Recently, my go-to lunches for Rowan usually involve some kind of nut butter with a combination of whatever fruit is in the refrigerator. I have a ton of green apples from our CSA, and they are perfect in this almond butter, apple and raisin sandwich. Rowan will eat just about anything if it involves raisins, so the handful I threw in, pleased him greatly.
Almond Butter, Apple and Raisin Sandwich
Almond Butter
Sliced Apple
Raisins
Whole Grain Bread
Slice apple into very thin slices. Spread the almond butter on both slices of bread. I do this so the sandwich sticks together nicely for an active toddler to grip. Top with raisins, sliced apple and the other slice of bread. Slice up and serve.
We love almond butter and apples—but, your little twist with the tiny squares for tiny hands is a sweet way to serve up a little lunch or snack! ~heather
Looks wonderful! I'm severely allergic to tree nuts, so unfortunately my kids can't have them because of me. 🙁 I do make them the same type of sandwich with peanut butter, and they love it. Their favorite is Peanut Butter & Banana sandwiches!!!
What a great little idea! My two year old would totally love this. I foresee this in his lunch future.
First off, your photos are so amazing Lisa! Really great. My little one will not eat raisins. She does love apples and peanut/almond butter though…must try.
I haven't tried Almond Butter…
The little squares are perfect for little hands!
Haven't tried this kind of sandwich, but I do love your photos!
This really sounds good and I'm definitely going to have to try this! I've gone to a plant based diet and trying to stay more natural (less preservatives) and this would be awesome! – Pauline
They look so cute! We will be having these for lunch tomorrow! Thanks for the idea 🙂
The raisin idea is great. I never thought to put them on a sandwich.
