I love giving gifts that are either homemade or from the garden. The sentimentality in offering something homegrown is always appreciated, and a rare occasion in these days of Amazon and big box stores. The house we are living in here in San Diego has 3 gorgeous citrus trees. I love freshly picked lemons for my recipes, or just slices in my ice water. Plus, I so appreciate seeing the shades of orange, yellow and green in the fruit bowl on my countertop. Our fruit trees were overburdened with fruit this weekend. Their branches were sagging under the weight of all those ripe lemons, oranges and limes. So, on Saturday, Rowan and I did a big harvest. Rowan enjoyed playing garden farmer, and I loved being out in the sunshine. We filled boxes and jars for giving away, and I made the tags you see here to make them extra special. We also made ice cold honey and mint lemonade, a recipe I will be posting later. It was a very summery weekend.

Hi Lisa! I didn't realize you'd moved to San Diego–how exciting! And to live in a house with citrus trees. That sounds wonderful. (I've been crazy about lemons ever since pregnancy…no idea why.) Your blog looks terrific, and I'm excited to try a bunch of your recipes. I, too, am avoiding gluten these days….
