Handmade Valentines

Hello there! So sorry for the radio silence. I have been away from this space for a few months just because, well, I moved, and life has been crazy, I have felt out of sorts, to be quite honest. Moving across country is big, and I think bigger than I imagined. There were some really good, comforting things about where we were living in New England. I had a system, my space, my support system, my life. It wasn’t perfect, nothing ever is, but I am a creature of habit, and anything that involves change usually shakes me up. But, San Diego is a beautiful place, and my son is in a beautiful school, and I am getting settled out here. If I am honest, change is something that I probably need thrust upon me from time to time. So, here we are already Valentine’s Day, a lovely holiday to celebrate with kids, and a good excuse to get back to this space and sharing things I love to do with my son.
Now that Rowan is an official preschooler, I am for the first time excited about Valentine’s day. Pre-baby I was never a fan of this holiday. Pressure to conjure up romance just because it is February 14th was never my cup of tea. Like New Year’s, I kind of object to being forced to “have fun” just because the calendar tells me I must. But now that Rowan is older and gets it, these holidays are taking on new meaning. It is fun to create things, celebrate and make sweet memories.
This is a simple, no brainer idea that allowed Rowan to create Valentines all by himself. I will admit that it took a couple of days to get him to complete all 19, but he did it. I just cut out the hearts and added the wording. He did all the painting.

When I was challenged with my own feelings while parenting, I started creating activities that could help kids and parents open up about their emotions. It was so therapeutic and helpful, so I put my feelings activities together into a book. I created the book that I wanted for my own parenting, and I am so thrilled to share it with you.
Vanilla Blueberry Yogurt Pops. I made this recipe this week after posting it in my newsletter and it was so fresh and yummy, so sharing it here! I used to make these yogurt pops all of the time for my son and he would eat them for breakfast. If blueberries are not in season use frozen wild blueberries or whatever frozen fruit you like. They are really easy to make and you can even add some oats if you want to make them even more nutritious for breakfast.
Try Flower Breathing 🌸 In my last reel, I showed how to make these cardboard Lavender scented flowers. The "pistol" is scented with lavender oil which is a very calming and make it fun. The act of breathing in and out, calms the nervous system and get kids introduced to breath work. Flip through the images and use it as a guide plus one of the images is instructions that you can screen shot. 🌸
